ODU Community Support During a Difficult Time

At Black Rifle Coffee Company Norfolk, community is at the heart of what we do. Sometimes, that means showing up during celebrations. Other times, it means showing up during moments of grief.

On March 23 and 24, our team had the honor of supporting the Old Dominion University community during a difficult time.

Following the tragic loss of a beloved ROTC instructor, BRCC Norfolk donated coffee and time to help welcome students back from spring break. As students returned to campus, our team was there to offer coffee, conversation, and a sense of normalcy.

Showing Up When It Matters

The first days back after a loss can feel heavy. Because of that, even small gestures can matter.

A warm cup of coffee cannot take away grief. However, it can create a quiet moment of comfort. It can give people a place to pause. It can open the door for conversation, connection, and care.

For our team, this moment was not about promotion. It was about presence.

We were grateful for the opportunity to stand with ODU students, faculty, staff, and the ROTC community as they returned to campus.

Coffee as a Point of Connection

At BRCC Norfolk, we believe coffee can do more than fuel the day. In moments like this, it can help bring people together.

It can offer a small sense of routine when things feel uncertain. It can create space for people to gather. Most importantly, it can remind a community that they are not alone.

During our time on campus, we were reminded of the strength of the ODU community. Students showed up for one another. Faculty and staff offered support. The ROTC community honored one of their own with care and respect.

Honoring Service, Community, and Care

Black Rifle Coffee Company was built on a commitment to service members, veterans, first responders, and the communities connected to them.

That mission is personal to us at BRCC Norfolk. Therefore, supporting the ODU ROTC community during this time felt deeply important.

We were honored to play a small role in helping students return to campus with support around them.

Standing with Old Dominion University

Moments like these remind us why community matters.

Coffee may be what we serve. Still, the greater purpose is connection. It is showing up when people need support. It is standing beside our neighbors during difficult days.

To the Old Dominion University community, BRCC Norfolk stands with you.
